I still can't get over this, one of the most important "natural experiments" to come from COVID: https://t.co/Oso2eDVOKH It's all right there in front of us, a free lunch pathway to reducing some of the most immense cruelty in our society. pic.twitter.com/o54eIHr2AG — Dustin Palmer (@dustinbpalmer) November 11, 2022ALT

I love that the pandemic actually definitively proved a lot of those ā€œhardā€ questions for us. Masking up reduced cases of the flu to almost nonexistent numbers and we had zero flu deaths for a time. The welfare and social service and unemployment programs helped keep people living paycheck to paycheck out of poverty, and those stimulus checks some folks keep complaining about actually massively benefitted the common man and the economy. Individual personal travel was so extremely restricted on a global scale that we basically have concrete proof that individual restraint in terms of driving cars or travelling means absolutely nothing by comparison because the mass pollution is coming from the fisheries and the corporations with private jets and container ships. Working from home actually has massive benefits for a company like productivity boosts and better mental health of employees while also saving gas

and we’re just. Willingly going back to how everything was before. We were shown how to do things better and the people in charge said ā€œthat’s nice but we just want to get everything ā€˜back to normal’ :)ā€

This is Trey Reed. A 21 year old college student.

He was found hanging from a tree on the Delta State University campus on September 15th at 7 A.M with the police suggesting it was a suicide. The problem with that is the student body is suspecting it to be a lynching.

No major media outpost is talking about it. There are no flags hung at half mass for him. Hell, there’s not even gonna be an investigation, and that not okay. Not to his family, not to his friends.

Don’t let his death fly under the radar.

black death

neodymiumcuilz:

the invasion of Gaza City has began, israel is turning the area into a slaughterhouse.

according to Al Jazeera, atleast 61 people have been slaughtered ( 49 of whom were in Gaza City ) within the past 24 hours.

nearly half of Gaza City’s population ( 450,000 people ) have fled since israel launched its major operation in august, the south is now even more crowded, people lack the most basic necessities for life.

this occurs while famine is underway in Gaza, and four UN trucks were robbed at gunpoint yesterday. this theft has denied at least 2,700 severely and acutely malnourished children of life-saving RUTF, which would have helped with their malnutrition.

Shaima ( @shaimaa-sha ) and her family need to urgently relocate, however they have no money for transportation.

she is 32 years old & a mother of four children, and is the breadwinner for her family, since her husband Ibrahim was severely injured in his foot. he has now lost his passion for everything.

please read her story in her own words here.

and all she desires is some bread for her children, who cry because of the severe lack of food. how many hundreds have or will starve to death in Gaza before you start to care ??

only €4,083 has been raised, the last donation was a day ago as this post is being made.

this campaign is also documented as number 62 on the @/gazavetters list – so no need to be hesitant around donating.

please, just imagine yourself surrounded by constant screams, massacres, drones, bombs, blood, destruction and martyrs. martyrs in their thousands not granted the basic dignity of even a proper burial.

martyrs don’t die in vain, but nobody else deserves to become a martyr. donate so that they can have a chance at life.

tagging for reach, your voice is VERY important –

need $254 for the rent still, but im once again at zero bc of bills eating the only contribution ive received. it feels like people only care to donate when i am asking for money for my kitten which is deeply dehumanizing; yall can way exceed the goal when my kitten needs something but when the human being responsible for his care needs money so she can be PHYSICALLY ABLE TO CARE FOR HIM its crickets. please. hell. if even half the people who have liked or reblogged this post since i made it yesterday sent me $5 id have enough to get me several months worth of my medications.

Dear friends, I fear this will be the final letter that I write to you from the Global Sumud Flotilla — now just 120 NM from the shores of Gaza. What is happening now, 90 nautical miles from our shore, is an illegal kidnapping of all those on board the ships that set out to break the siege on us. The Zionist forces are illegally kidnapping activists who are trying to break the siege on Gaza. This is the second time this has happened. Damn the Israelis.

we’ve been seeing horrifying visuals coming from gaza for 22 months now. we’ve been hearing about the occupation reaching new lows every single day. too many palestinians have been killed and we’re not sure when a ceasefire will be reached.

in these difficult times, we must continue to support the palestinians. please consider donating to shaima so that she can support her family and help them survive. the fundraiser is verified (#55).

šŸ•Š Nadin’s Hope: A Mother, A Memory, A Future

Hello, my name is Nadin. I’m from Gaza. I’m a graphic design graduate, a wife—and now, a mother.

I finished my design studies just before the war began. I had dreams of starting a small studio, of creating art that told stories. I used to think about colors and fonts and the future.

Then, the war came. And the future became something we tried to hold onto, moment by moment.

On October 22, 2023, I learned I was pregnant when a missile destroyed my husband’s family home, killing 25 members—his mother, siblings, nieces and nephews—entire branches of our family in seconds.

We were displaced twice. Everything was gone—home, safety, routine, rest.

A few weeks later, I gave birth to our daughter. There was no crib, no celebration—not even stillness. But she arrived, quietly and beautifully. In her eyes I saw something I hadn’t felt in weeks: life that still wanted to grow.

image
image
image

Now, our days are shaped by decisions that could dismantle the future we are trying to build together.

Today, Israel’s government is discussing plans for a full military occupation of the Gaza Strip, including Gaza City and southern regions. The stated aim: to eliminate Hamas and later hand governing control to allied Arab forces—not Israel—but with no clear path to peace or normalcy.

image
image

The humanitarian fallout is devastating. More than 61,000 Palestinians have died in this war; hunger and malnutrition are rising sharply. Hospitals in north Gaza have shut down, and 193 people have now died of starvation, nearly half of them children.

Aid remains blocked, water is scarce, and many risk dying of hunger or disease long before future promises arrive.

We Don’t Know What Comes Next
There’s no clear path forward—only uncertainty for our daughter’s life and our ability to survive another day.

How You Can Help
I’m asking for support—not for comfort, but for survival:

Help us meet basic needs so we can breathe, heal, and preserve a world for our daughter.

Support us as I try to stand again on my own feet—even a glimmer of stability matters.

If you’ve read this far, thank you. If you can give—thank you. If you can’t—just sharing this post is a lifeline I will never forget.

thsioamsha21:

God protected us today — there was a bombing near us, and if it had been any closer, we would have been among the martyrs now.

My daughter Zeina was injured by stones and shattered glass from the explosion. God saved her and was merciful to her. She was just playing safely with the other children 💔

They bombed an area full of tents. Until now, the martyrs have not been pulled out from under the sand — they were buried inside a huge crater. Hasbunallahu wa ni‘mal wakeel (God is sufficient for us, and He is the best disposer of affairs). 🥹

Today, we saw death with our own eyes — it’s like living through horror movies every day. Our children and we are no longer able to eat, play, or even move away from me after the bombing. Their faces are pale, completely pale.ترجمه
